Blackheath & Greenwich

E2 have become synonymous with successful planning permissions in the Blackheath and Greenwich conservation areas. Our director Sam Cooper grew up in Blackheath and has worked in and around the area for all of his career. E2 can apply our wealth of local knowledge to win you the best planning gain on your project.

Being the literal centre of the planet, where time itself begins, Blackheath and Greenwich contain some of the most significant cultural and heritage architecture and developments in the country. They include a UNESCO World Heritage Site, centred on Christopher Wren’s Naval College and the Old Royal Observatory along with some of the largest conservation areas in the country. There is a rich tapestry from across the ages; from the Tudor Charlton House to iconic heritage by Inigo Jones or Christopher Wren, to fine examples of Georgian and Victorian housing, to the Cator Estate with its Span houses and a myriad of other examples of post war modernism, right on through to contemporary new build one off homes and residential extensions, and everything in between.

The Blackheath Conservation Area is the oldest and largest conservation area in the UK. Spanning across the Royal Borough of Greenwich and London Borough of Lewisham, the area has a rich and vibrant history. This presents architects and their clients with a unique and exciting environment within which to work. It is with a distinct pride that E2 have forged such a strong relationship with the area. We are well versed in dealing with the local boroughs planning departments, the conservation officers and various other groups and societies that are invested in the wellbeing of the borough.

E2 are the retained heritage architects for Morden College and have negotiated listed building consents and planning permission for organisations and private clients on renovations, extensions and new build houses throughout the area. We can advise on and design projects that both improve your life and enhance the conservation area. We have in depth knowledge of the local context and we have many local contacts in the history, planning and construction sectors to help you get the most from your project.
