E2 Architecture were appointed to achieve a successful planning application for the complete redevelopment of an HMO on Foyle Road in Blackheath. The design involved the complete strip out of the interior of the building in order to refit it as a modern family home. This also involved a large basement extension with a double storey rear extension at ground and basement levels.
After a contentious planning process with heavy and organised opposition from the neighbours we were able to make the case for the extension at committee and were granted planning permission. The extension uses traditional materials found in the area.
A green pigmented interlocking zinc cladding used horizontally rather than the more traditional vertical, with varying panel widths breaks up and softens the visible facade to the extension.
